Managers and mechanics

Everyone in your garage is either a Manager or a Mechanic. The role decides what they can change.

What everyone can do

• See the schedule, jobs, customers, vehicles, invoices, services, parts and team.
• Add notes to a job.
• Add, caption, remove and send inspection photos and video.
• Read their notifications.
• Change their own name, photo, password and how the app looks.

What only managers can do

• Add, edit, move and cancel jobs, including changing a job's status and dragging jobs on the schedule.
• Add, edit and remove customers and services.
• Add, edit, archive and restore parts.
• Create, issue, email and mark invoices as paid.
• Add, edit and deactivate team members.
• Change the garage's settings.
• Cancel or resume a paid plan.

The owner

The person who created the garage is a manager with an Owner badge. The owner can't be deactivated, and nobody can change their role.

Good to know

• A mechanic can still see buttons like Add job on the lists. If they try to save, a message says only managers can do it.
• On pages like the job page, the boxes are greyed out for mechanics, with a line saying only managers can change them.
• Each article in this help centre is marked Everyone or Managers only.
• Managers can change anyone's role except their own and the owner's.
