MOT dates

GarageActive gets each vehicle's MOT expiry date and last result from official DVSA records. You never type them in.

Where you see them

  • In the Vehicles list, under MOT expiry and MOT result.
  • On the vehicle's page, in the MOT panel.
  • On a customer's page, next to each of their vehicles.
  • When you look up a plate while adding a job.

What the colours mean

  • Red: the MOT has expired, or its latest test was failed.
  • Amber: 30 days or fewer are left, including an MOT that runs out today. You see this in the Vehicles list, and as Due soon on the vehicle's page.
  • Green or no colour: more than 30 days are left.
  • On a customer's page, an expired MOT shows Expired in place of the date.

Good to know

  • Dates are checked again regularly, and more often as the expiry gets close. A new pass shows up by itself.
  • Opening a vehicle's page also fetches the latest details if they haven't been checked in the last day.
  • The date can't be changed by hand. If it looks wrong, look the plate up again with the magnifying glass when editing a job.
  • A vehicle too new for its first MOT shows the date that MOT is due. No MOT data means no MOT date has been found.
  • These dates are what MOT reminder emails are based on.
