EveryoneWhen a number plate moves to another car
Private plates move from car to car. When official records show a plate is now on a different car, GarageActive keeps the two cars apart so their histories don't mix.
What you'll see
- A Transferred badge next to the reg in the Vehicles list, and Plate transferred on the customer's page.
- A notice on the old vehicle's page saying it's history only. Book a job is removed there.
- On a job with that plate that wasn't complete or cancelled when the plate moved, a banner on the job's page saying the reg has moved to another vehicle.
Answer the banner on a job
- Open the job's page. The banner isn't shown in the Edit Job box.
- Read the banner. It names the car you had on file and, where official records say, the car the plate is on now.
- Choose the car you actually worked on for this job. If the new car isn't named, the second choice is A different car.
Good to know
- Only a manager can answer the banner. Mechanics are told a manager can confirm it.
- Choosing the newer car moves this job, and its history, onto a new record for that plate.
- Nothing is lost either way. Both cars keep their own jobs.
- Jobs that were already complete or cancelled stay on the old car.
- The next time you book the plate, the job goes on the car that has the plate now.
