Customer messages
EveryoneYour monthly SMS allowance
Your plan includes a number of SMS each month for MOT reminder texts. The allowance is shared across every customer in your garage.
Check what's left
- Open Settings and choose the SMS tab.
- Look at Included SMS this month. It shows how many you've used and the date it resets.
You can also see it in Settings, on the Billing tab.
The allowances
- Free: none. Reminder texts are part of Premium.
- Premium: 100 SMS a month.
- Enterprise: agreed with you.
What counts
- Each MOT reminder text sent uses one SMS, whether or not the customer's phone receives it.
- Reminder emails never use it.
- A text that couldn't be sent, for example to a number that isn't a working mobile, is given back.
When it runs out
- Reminder texts stop until the allowance resets on the 1st, unless extra SMS are on.
- Texts that fall due in the meantime are skipped, not saved up for after the reset. A customer who also agreed to emails still gets their reminder email.
- Everything else carries on as normal.
Extra SMS
On Premium and Enterprise, a manager can let reminder texts carry on once the allowance is used.
- Open Settings and choose the SMS tab.
- Under Extra SMS, choose Allow extra SMS.
- Read what it costs and choose Allow extra SMS again.
- Each extra SMS costs 6p (£6 per 100). They're charged on the 1st for the month before, and paid the same way as your plan.
- Every extra SMS sent is charged.
- If a month's extra SMS charge comes to less than 30p, they aren't charged.
- Extra SMS have their own invoice, shown as Extra SMS on the Billing tab. They're never part of your plan's payment.
- The Extra SMS card shows the price, and while extra SMS are on, how many you've sent this month.
- To stop, choose Turn off extra SMS. Texts already sent are still charged on the 1st.
- If a payment for extra SMS fails, extra SMS switch off. A manager can turn them on again on the SMS tab.
- Extra SMS switch off when your paid plan ends.
