Managers onlyRecord if a customer wants MOT reminders
GarageActive only sends MOT reminders to customers you've recorded as agreeing to them, so ask each customer and record their answer. Emails and texts are agreed separately: a yes to one isn't a yes to the other.
The three choices
- Agreed: the customer said yes. They can get MOT reminders once your garage has them switched on.
- Declined: the customer said no. They don't get MOT reminders.
- Not Asked: you haven't asked yet. They don't get MOT reminders. This is where every new customer starts.
Steps
- Ask the customer: "Happy for us to email you a reminder when your MOT's due?" And for texts: "Happy for us to text you a reminder when your MOT's due?"
- Open the customer, or open the add or edit box.
- Under MOT reminder emails, choose Agreed or Declined. Do the same under MOT reminder SMS.
- Choose Save changes on the customer's page, or Save customer in the box.
Good to know
- Not Asked never counts as a yes.
- Every reminder has an unsubscribe link. If a customer uses it, their choice changes to Declined for you.
- If a customer changes their mind, change their choice here.
- Reminder texts go to the customer's phone number, and only when it's a UK mobile. If they agree to texts and the number isn't a UK mobile, a warning shows under the number. The number still saves.
- These choices only affect MOT reminders. Booking confirmation emails and invoices you email aren't affected by them, because they're about work the customer asked for.
